Hall of Athletic Honor
Duke came form Waynesboro, Pa. where he was an excellent athlete. However, he made his mark on the collegiate scene by excelling in three varsity sports and graduated with a degree in history.
He was an end on the football team, a forward in basketball and one of the most versatile track athletes Gettysburg has had. He was captain of the 1929-30 basketball team which won 11 games and lost nine. Duke never played on a losing basketball team. He ran the 100, 220 and 440 in track and also threw the javelin, shot and discus.
He passed away on August 23, 1975.
