Hall of Athletic Honor
He was a center on the basketball team and it was his southpaw style that proved to be a puzzle to his opponents. He also played right halfback on the football team.
However, the Hanover, Pa., native was best known for his accomplishments in track. He was a hurdler and captained the track team in both his junior and senior years. It was in his senior year that he led Gettysburg to its first Central Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Track championship and a third place in the Middle Atlantic Conference. During that same year, he ran in 20 races and won all 20.
