For more than four decades, Barry Streeter led the Bullets to success on the field, while building men of character off it.

Streeter arrived in Gettysburg as the defensive coordinator in 1975. After three seasons, he was named head coach of the program, a position he would maintain for 40 years. From 1980-87, Gettysburg recorded eight consecutive winning seasons, marking the longest such streak in program history.

The Bullets claimed the first three titles in the newly formed Centennial Conference from 1983 to 1985. In 1985, Streeter led the team to the only unbeaten regular season in program history (9-0-1) and a spot in the NCAA Division IIII Championship semifinals. He was named the Region 2 Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association in 1985 and was a two-time conference coach of the year.

Streeter finished his football coaching career as the program’s all-time leader in victories (196) and games coached (389). His student-athletes received 210 all-conference honors and he coached 21 All-Americans, six Academic All-Americans, three CC Players of the Year, and two NCAA postgraduate scholarship recipients.

In addition to his football duties, Streeter served as head coach of the men’s track and field program from 1976-78. He oversaw back-to-back Middle Atlantic Conference championships and led the team to a 12th-place finish at the national championship in 1977. In all, Streeter coached 10 All-Americans and 15 MAC champions in track.

A native of Millville, N.J., Streeter graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a degree in health and physical education in 1971.
