One of the most decorated distance runners in Gettysburg history, Miller contributed to the Bullets' cross country dynasty of the 1970s while carrying the program successfully into the next decade.

A four-time NCAA cross country participant and two-time All-American, he posted a pair of first-place finishes during his freshman campaign in 1978. His performances helped that legendary Bullet squad go 13-1, win the Middle Atlantic Conference championship, reach the NCAA meet and earn recognition at the 1993 Hall of Athletic Honor induction ceremonies.

After earning All-MAC honors and again reaching the NCAA championships as a sophomore, he finished second overall at both the 1980 and 1981 MAC championships and went on to top-ten NCAA finishes and a pair of All-America honors. His best national showing was a seventh-place finish during his junior season in 1980. As a team, Gettysburg posted a 49-10 record during his four years.

In addition to his cross country exploits, he was a three-year letterwinner with the track and field program, earning All-MAC honors in the 5,000-meter run in 1980.

A native of Greencastle, Pa., he graduated from Gettysburg in 1982 with a degree in business administration.
