A former high school All-American, Dunton combined speed and smarts to become a cornerstone of the field hockey team and one of the pioneers of the women’s lacrosse program.

With the field hockey squad in 1973, she was the lone Bullet freshman to be named to the Central Penn all-star team and to participate at that year’s national tournament. She also earned Central Penn honors as an all-region left wing in 1974. She led the team with nine goals in each of her final two seasons and captained the Bullets to a berth in the EAIAW championship tournament after the 1976 campaign.

During her four seasons with the women’s lacrosse team, the Bullets compiled a sparkling 23-4-2 overall record. Always a strong defensive player, she became one of the best defenders in the conference by her senior season of 1977, a year in which she also scored eight goals and earned a spot on the all-South region second team. At the conclusion of that year, she received the Clair B. Noerr Award as the College’s outstanding female athlete.

In addition to those achievements, she was a member of the women’s basketball program for two seasons.

A native of Swarthmore, Pa., she graduated in 1977 with a degree in health and physical education.
