One of the most prolific grapplers in school history, Jake Dell was an unstoppable force on the mat for the Orange & Blue, setting new standards for the Gettysburg wrestling program.

From the time he stepped onto the mat, Dell proved he was more than capable of handling himself in the collegiate wrestling world, winning 34 matches as a freshman en route to the 158-pound Centennial Conference championship. He was named the CC Outstanding Wrestler at the end of the season, becoming the first and only Bullet to earn the honor at the time of his induction.

As a sophomore and junior, Dell continued his charge through the ranks, moving up to the 167-pound weight class and winning a pair of conference championships. He earned All-America recognition in both seasons, placing sixth as a sophomore and second as a junior, the highest finish by a Bullet in over two decades.

Serving as team captain for the second straight year, Dell saved perhaps his best season for last, setting single-season records for victories (40) and pins (17) en route to his fourth conference title. He wrapped up his legacy with another All-America plaque via a fourth-place finish at the national meet.

During the course of his career, Dell racked up an amazing record of 140-26, shattering the previous career wins record. He also set a new school mark with 43 career pins.

A native of Hanover, Pa., Dell graduated from Gettysburg in 1998 with a degree in health and exercise sciences.
