Hall of Athletic Honor
He is the only Gettysburg football player ever named to Walter Camp's All-America team. He received the honor in 1906 just after he guided Gettysburg to a 7-1-2 season. The two ties were against the powers of the East, Penn State, 6-6, and Penn 0-0, on back-to-back weekends.
He is regarded as one of the greatest all-around athletes the school has produced. He was a halfback and captain in football, setting numerous kicking and scoring records; a forward in basketball who scored close to 100 points a season (outstanding since few people scored in those days); and a second baseman in baseball who batted no less than .333 in any one of three seasons.
He went on to become an outstanding surgeon in Pittsburgh.
