Hall of Athletic Honor
He came into his own as a football player during his junior year. As an end and tackle, he blocked a punt which led to a win over Lehigh. Because of his consistent play, he was named to the second team all-conference. As a senior, he expanded his talents to the kicking game. A 28-yard field goal beat Lehigh. He won the conference scoring title that year and was selected to play with the Eastern College All-Stars against the Philadelphia Eagles.
As a talented wrestler, he lost only two matches in three varsity seasons. As a Sophomore, he was undefeated at 175-pounds, including the only win in the F&M match. He went on to win the MAC championship and became Gettysburg's first wrestler to compete nationally. He lost his first collegiate bout to a wrestler from Oklahoma A&M in 1935. He was acting captain his junior year and as a senior went 7-0 and captured his third straight conference crown.
